Licensed Coach Aleah Is Taking It All Captive
TELL US ABOUT HOW AND WHO YOU COACH.
I've been working in ministry for over 20 years and have always said I was called to women...and I still believe that is true. I've always been very passionate about God's Word and have been teaching the Bible since I was in high school. I am desperate for people to find freedom and walk in victory— to know the Word and know how to use it. While Jess was teaching us about the 6 steps and having us ask ourselves the questions we would be asking those we will coach, the Holy Spirit began to speak to me about my reach being widened. He recalled to my mind that the people I have been ministering to and coaching weren't just women anymore. He lit a fire in me for those in leadership and ministry. He showed me they are quitting...quitting their families, their ministries, their journey, even to the point of taking their own lives. He showed me how they lose passion for what they once were on fire for. I realized, though some take hold of their mental health, most do not and I came to see its because of the fear of not being in control and being the one who needs help instead of the one helping. I have a background in counseling and it was like I saw these leaders as well as those women I have always worked with passing over counseling, but feeling confident to ask for coaching. It was like a vision. That was when I knew I was to be a refuge and encourager for more than just women, but for pastors, ministers, and other ministry leaders. I coach with a lot of honesty. I cannot hear someone speak things contrary to the truth of God's Word over themselves without correcting it. I feel like I coach people to recognize lies either in their thoughts, in their worldview, or coming out of their mouths and replace them with truth. Taking it all captive requires intentionality and modeling. Replacing wrong thinking requires us to know the truth. Knowing the difference between the Holy Spirit's voice and the enemy's voice is possible and it’s something I had to learn for myself. I have struggled with my own mental health because of depression, but the Lord is victorious and, therefore, I am too. I know what worked for me and how He walked beside me as I found freedom. I want that for others. My coaching is challenging, but full of comfort. My approach is with compassion and with intention. I am also very much a teacher. I speak and teach at many conferences and events. I lead groups at my church, disciple others, and mentor. I am our community groups pastor so I spend a lot of time planning out how to reach and teach our people. I offer teaching and write curriculums and messages for others to use. I would love to come and speak to or teach at your event!
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY YOUR SPIRITUAL GIFTS ARE?
My spiritual gifts are teaching, discernment, prophecy, hospitality, and mercy.
WHAT DOES RUNNING ON MISSION MEAN TO YOU?
It means exactly that — running on mission. Running always has a goal in sight. It requires training and work to build stamina. It sets a pace that makes a goal attainable. Running takes us places and requires something of us. It is action and consistent motion. Mission...well, mission is the goal. It’s the thing our grit and determination is built around. It’s the spark that our passion is lit by. Mission is the job Jesus gave us and it is seen with eternal perspectives and focus. It is reachable and it is life-changing, both to others and to ourselves.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR YOU TO 'GO AND TELL'?
‘Go and Tell’ means I don't keep the goodness of God to myself. I see trials and circumstances as opportunities for God to work things together for my good, the good of others, and His glory. O’ur lives are not our own. What God teaches us and molds in us, though very personal and intimate, are not for us alone. It’s a deliberate choice to take action and share all He has done with everyone else! It’s the intentionality to make Jesus name and renown our desire and display it in all we do and say.
WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE MESSAGES FROM YOU ARE THE GIRL FOR THE JOB?
'I am not the hero.’ Do you realize the weight that breaks off when we come to understand that one statement? Not only that, but I am much more aware of the unmatched power of Jesus in all things when I come to see He is the Hero and not me. It encourages a greater dependence on Him from the start instead of at the end when there is no other choice.
IS THERE AN OVERARCHING MESSAGE YOU FIND YOU WANT TO SHARE WITH MOST WOMEN YOU ENCOUNTER?
Jesus is worth it. He is worth the hard work of sanctification and the hard work of serving people. God's Word is truth. It is alive and active. It changes lives. His Word trumps all lies and speaks directly to our Spirits. We have to recognize the lies that keep us in bondage and replace them with the freeing truth of the Word. Freedom and victory are ours in Christ. We have to choose to walk in them. Grace is ours. We can trust the One who set us free. I want my ministry to be known for 4 actions: 1. Speak Truth 2. Bring Hope 3. Live Intentionally 4. Worship Always.
TELL US ABOUT THE WOMAN YOU SERVE:
I'm not sure there is a woman I wouldn't serve. I guess if I were to put a description to her, she would want to break strongholds and walk in Truth, but not know exactly how. She would want more passion for Jesus and His Word, but not know how to get there. She would need freedom from heavy burdens and not know how to carry the light and easy yoke of Jesus. She would seek hope. She may be exhausted. She may be anxious or depressed. She may be ready to quit, but she is determined to remember why she started and move forward instead.
TELL US ABOUT THE TRANSFORMATION YOU COACH YOUR WOMAN THROUGH:
I believe there is great power in calling things what they are. When we can name our struggle, we can learn to fight it. If it remains faceless and nameless, we don't feel confident because we don't know what we are up against. This is one transformation— to pin down those nameless struggles and call them what they are. Another transformation is knowing the Holy Spirit's voice and recognizing the enemy's. We have to be able to differentiate the two. We can learn how to do that. One more, seeing lies for what they are and replacing them with Truth. It’s life-changing.
WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE SCRIPTURE REFERENCES OR BIBLICAL ENCOURAGEMENTS TO SHARE WITH THE WOMEN YOU COACH?
I absolutely love the Word of God and I use it every single day in my own life and I want other women to do the same. There are some I usually go to though. ‘It is for freedom that Christ set you free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.’ -Galatians 5:1 ‘We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.’ -2 Cor 10:5 ‘You hem me in behind and before, and you lay Your hand on me.’ -Psalm 139:5 ‘Yet I call this to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the LORD'S great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.’ -Lamentations 3:21-23 I include scripture in all I do with my coaching.
WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR ABOUT A FEW OF YOUR FAVORITE COACHING MOMENTS.
Deliverance from debilitating anxiety! Walking in bondage to walking in freedom! Going from fear and isolation to confidence and community! Moving from doubt to assurance!
IF THERE WAS ONE PIECE OF WISDOM YOU COULD SHARE WITH ALL WOMEN, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Trust Jesus. He is faithful in all things. Get in the Word and spend time in prayer. He changes us through that intimacy and it’s worth every second we spend with Him.
